Where do most people look for corporate information? The intranet. Several organizations use the intranet to distribute information, increase productivity, and facilitate collaboration. With the emergence of a more conversational online environment, the use of social computing tools on an organization’s intranet has become indispensable. The most popular tools include wikis, RSS, and tagging.
As we progress through the technology age, intranets are overloaded with content that has been arranged in a counter-intuitive way. Social computing tools enhance internal communications by organizing the intranet’s content efficiently. In addition, these tools can strengthen an organization by placing the power to share information into the hands of employees themselves.
